On Dec. 20, the National Honor Society members visited Chase Elementary School once again to for their annual NHS Toy Drive.
They delivered toys to children that were collected from the Kaynor Tech. community for an early Christmas surprise.
On the morning of the trip to Chase Elementary School, NHS members were organizing the toys, putting them into bags and getting them ready to be brought over to Chase Elementary School.
NHS Advisors structured the Toy Drive so that every homeroom had the opportunity to bring in the most toys (in dollar value) to win a pizza party for their homeroom.
This incentive motivated a lot of the students and staff to bring in toys.
The contest took place from Dec. 1 through Dec. 16 and the winning homeroom of the 2022 annual toy drive contest was Mrs. Marks's homeroom, bringing in a total toy value of $900.
"The National Honor Society members were excited to donate and deliver the toys to Chase School dressed as Santa, Ms. Claus, Rudolph and the elves" said NHS advisor Lee Pelletier.
The National Honor Society members did not personally hand out the toys themselves, but they did get to do activities like read Christmas books to students and they assisted with the holiday meet and greet.
"Thanks to the generosity of the Kaynor staff and students, we delivered a large number of toys. The staff at Chase were overwhelmed and incredibly appreciative of our donations" Mr. Pelletier said.
