Scaredy Cat... Watches "Get Out"

By: Lilly Woike

My name is Lilly Woike and in case you couldn't tell I'm the scaredy cat.

From a very young age my parents (my Dad especially) always tried to get me to watch horror movies with the family but I was always too scared and refused to watch.

have managed to watch a couple here and there over the years, but have decided to watch horror movies and do scary things I told myself I would never do, and, rate them on whether they were scary or not.

“Get Out” (2017) is supposed to be a horror/thriller and while it does have a couple of thrilling parts this movie is not very scary at all.

Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of parts that do get your heart racing a bit, but, there are not as many as older and newer horror movies

today. “Get Out” (2017) is supposed to be more of a psychological thriller but after watching this movie you just go back to living your life like nothing happened.

SThis movie, however, deserves credit for having an original story.

So many horror movies have the same plot: The killer picks people off one by one or there is an evil that needs to be destroyed.

This movie strays away from those plotlines and makes for an interesting never-before-done story.

I would not consider this movie a horror/thriller but more of an independent film.

“Get Out” (2017) did well with critics and the general population also winning many awards in 2017-2018.
